Civitas Londinum printed in 1561 known as the "Agas Map"

SAMUEL PEPYS

Discover why Samuel Pepys was such an inspirational character in the City, especially at the time of the Great Fire of London in 1666 and how his quick thinking raised the alarm with King Charles II for the need of urgent help in tackling the blaze.

See where he used to work and visit the Church of St Olave where he and his wife Elisabeth worshiped and were both buried. Discover the importance of his 9 year diaries and what it was like to live in the City in the middle of the 17th Century.

WREN'S CHURCHES

Discover why Sir Christopher Wren was such a prolific Architect responsible for rebuilding the City after the Great Fire of London in 1666. Visit a number of his wonderful Churches and notice how each one is subtly different, especially the Bell towers and steeples.

Learn about his life and route into Architecture having originally qualified as a mathematician and scientist. Wonder at his life's work, St Paul's Cathedral, and other iconic structures like the Monument, Chapter House and the Temple Bar.

LIVERY COMPANIES

This walk explains what a Livery Company is, why they exist and the History behind them. Learn about their structure, their sometimes strange ceremonies and how they combine to raise and distribute £75m a year for UK charities.

Unfortunately the walk does not include access to these Livery Halls as they are not open to the public and only some are accessible through privately booked Tours.

ROMAN LONDON

Starting at Tower Hill this walk traces the history of the Roman invasion of Britain and why they settled in London, which they named Londinium. You will discover a number of sites that are freely accessible and those that require booking and an admission fee.

Just remember that London did not exist before AD43 so we have a lot to be thankful for to the Romans and for the 400 years they spent on this Island.

THE CITY TOUR

This is a general tour for those that do not know the City of London and want an all round introduction covering a broad history from the Romans, how the City is governed, how it rebuilt itself following the Great Fire of London in 1666 and the London Blitz of World War II.

We will visit Churches, open spaces, statues, iconic old and new buildings along the route.
